It’s no secret that St. Augustine boasts some of the best foodie spots, but did you know that some of our favorites happen to be on four wheels? The oldest city is home to not one but two food truck parks with ample options for everyone in the family. Head to Marina Munch and dine right on the water or The Village Garden to grab some lunch a mere mile from St. Augustine Beach. Each park’s selection changes daily, so it’s always best to visit their social media pages in advance if you’re hoping for a particular truck. We also recommend downloading the “TruckFindr” app, where you can see the schedules and order food from all of your favorite food trucks. Have a look at some of our picks!
For a lip smackin’ taste of award-winning Texas BBQ, visit Smokin’ Spencer’s Q . From winning People’s Choice at The Taste of St. Augustine to taking 1 st place “Whole Hog” at the 2023 Porkapalooza, rest assured this is some amazing BBQ. You can always find them for Tuesday lunch at the St. John’s County Courthouse/Tax Collector’s Office from 11am -1:30pm b ut check their Facebook page for other appearances (like at the St. Augustine Farmer’s Market). They serve until they sell out so don’t delay.
You won’t believe how amazing the arepas are at Arepa Life. Surprisingly, one is plenty for most, but we can’t avoid ordering two because they’re just that good. Piled high with the meat of your choice, topped with cheese, and a sauce of your choosing on the side, it’s always a win in our book. Grab an empanada on the side if you’re extra hungry!
For restaurant-quality food, visit Uptown Scratch Kitchen. This contemporary American food truck makes everything from scratch and is home to one of the best burgers in St. Augustine. The Colorado Burger is a half-pound of grass-fed Angus beef topped with cherrywood smoked bacon, candied onion, sharp cheddar, shredded lettuce, tomato, and key lime house ketchup. Don’t pass up the hand-cut rosemary French fries! Because Uptown Scratch Kitchen also cooks everything to order, we recommend calling ahead or placing an order online in advance.
German Street Food will transport you to Munich with bratwursts, schnitzel, Spätzle, and sauerkraut. For those who don’t eat meat, order from their “Meatless” menu, or make the kids happy by grabbing one of their five different grilled cheese sandwiches. Split the Beer Cheese Fries. They’re huge!
Mr. Morgan’s Shave Ice is the perfect stop on one of these hot Florida days. This truck specializes in authentic Hawaiian shave ice with dozens of flavors and hundreds of combinations. If you want to try something you wouldn’t have thought of, check out their “Local Favorites” menu. Grace Ann’s Unicorn is banana, blue vanilla, and cotton candy flavoring with marshmallow cream topping and sprinkles. Yum!
Nalu’s Tropical Takeout is a local favorite for its tacos. Parked at the historic Surf Station, this island-style food truck is a staple in the Anastasia Island scene. If you enjoy fresh ahi tuna, you’ll love their poke bowls which are always made using wild-caught fish. If you’re not a fan of bowls, you can make any bowl into a wrap. The Baja fish tacos are equally as delicious and fresh. This is the perfect stop before or after a surf session to have you feeling those island vibes.
For another spot, you can enjoy right on the water, visit Haute Goods for their gourmet hot dogs and burgers. Located in the San Sebastian Marina, it’s tucked away from the hustle and bustle of downtown while still within walking distance of top attractions and sites. If it’s your thing, add their homemade pickles to your hot dog or burger. You won’t regret it.
The Hyppo Gourmet Ice Pops has two locations in downtown St. Augustine, but you may hear their funky music playing through your neighborhood during the summer months. Their pop truck also carries their sister brand, Mayday Ice Cream, so you’ll have plenty of ice-cold options. Some of our favorite popsicles include Blueberry Lavender Lemonade, Peanut Butter Pie, and Orange Cream.
Grab a beer at Bog Brewery and then authentic Mexican tacos from Tacos My Blessing. Tortas, enchiladas, tamales, and more are also on the menu for those wishing to try something other than tacos. Head over on the third Wednesday of each month for West King Wednesday to shop small businesses and work up an appetite that Tacos My Blessing is sure to satiate.
