Clays for a Cause, an annual charity clay shooting event presented by Jacksonville new home builder MasterCraft Builder Group, raised a net $15,000 in its third year. K9s for Warriors and St. Augustine Youth Services received $5,000, plus The Weaver Foundation at the Community Foundation of Northeast Florida has matched donations to K9s for Warriors, dollar for dollar, bringing the net contribution to K9s for Warriors to $10,000
“Our goal was to raise $10,000 this year,” said MasterCraft Builder Group Partner Chris Shee. “And I am thrilled that with the help of our generous group of trade partners and consultants, we exceeded that goal,” he added.
More than 75 people gathered in St. Augustine on December 18 for a day of clay shooting to raise money and awareness for local charities K9s for Warriors and St. Augustine Youth Services, who celebrated 25 years of service in 2014.
“When we started Clays for a Cause in 2012, it was a way for us to thank those who have helped make building quality homes in Northeast Florida possible. Today, three years later, it is not only a thank you, but a way to give back to the community, and we couldn’t be happier with the growing success of the event,” said Andy Chambers, MasterCraft Builder Group Partner. The first event was held in lieu of having our own holiday party so that we could all celebrate together. The venue, giveaways, catered bar-b-que lunch and drinks are all provided by MasterCraft. In exchange, the attendees are asked to bring a minimum donation to the cause.
“We were honored to have K9s for Warriors Marketing Director Sandi Capra, and Robin Burchfield and Schuyler Siefker from St. Augustine Youth Services there with us,” said MasterCraft Builder Group Partner Neill Singleton. “Both are great charities working to make our community a better place and it was our privilege to present each with $5,000 on behalf of the 3rd annual Clays for a Cause.”
The 4th annual Clays for a Cause will be held in early December 2015 and the charities will be announced in November. Charities selected serve the local community and have low overhead, thus allowing a majority of the proceeds to benefit their cause.
