The construction of S.R. 9B is scheduled to be completed sooner than expected, according to a report by St.Augustine.com.
The third phase of S.R. 9B, scheduled to begin in late 2015, will go from the Duval County line to St. Johns Parkway (County Rd. 2209). This will compete the four-lane roadway between I-295 in Duval County and northwestern St. Johns County according to the FDOT.
Easing congestion at I-95 interchanges at 210 and Old St. Augustine Road, the third phase also has a connector road from S.R 9B to Race Track Rd., overpasses at Russell Sampson & Race Track Rd., and a bridge at Durbin Creek planned.
This is good news for St. Johns County as it allows for more mobility, more travel options and lessens traffic on major roadways. As stated in the St.Augustine.com report, Melissa Glasgow, director of economic development in St. Johns County said, “It really opens up access to the northwestern quadrant in the county.”
With new home construction beginning on our newest community, Oxford Estates, we are excited for the completion of S.R. 9B for not only for Oxford Estates and its home owners, but for the whole of St. Johns County.
