After graduating from the University of North Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Business / Marketing, Chris was hired by a national home builder to join its newly created Management Trainee Program. During his seven-year tenure, Chris was able to experience various facets of the home building industry, including new home sales, new construction and warranty service. He eventually moved into management roles in sales and land acquisition. Ultimately, Chris was promoted to Vice President of Land Acquisition—the youngest Vice President in the company’s history. He was responsible for running the Land Department for a division that built almost 800 homes a year. In April 2009, during the depths of the Great Recession, Chris chose to become self-employed and opened his own company which focused on investing in raw land and vacant developed lots throughout Northeast Florida.

Chris founded MasterCraft Builder Group in April 2011 with good friends, Andy Chambers and Neill Singleton. The goal at that time were to build 10 to 12 semi-custom homes a year focusing in St. Johns County as much as possible. The other goal was to build beautifully designed, high-quality homes and only in the best communities. In the first full year of business, MasterCraft closed 20 homes—far exceeding their goal and expectations—and quickly became known for its outstanding quality, design, and customer service. Chris ended up buying Neill’s shares of the company once Neill decided to semi-retire. Soon thereafter, Chris purchased Andy’s shares after Andy wanted to pursue The Florida Home Store which now serves as MasterCraft’s design studio and cabinet / flooring subcontractor.

MasterCraft Builder Group’s brand has continued to strengthen while still maintaining its same original goals. Those goals, or pillars, are now known as the “4-C’s” which are Craftsmanship, Customer Service, Choice, and Community. Of all of these, Chris is most proud of Community—serving the local community’s needs through financial contributions as well as fundraisers such as Clays For A Cause and Concerts For A Cause. Chris’s younger and only sibling, Brad, now serves as the President of MasterCraft Builder Group.
Chris is married to his best friend, Dawn, has three boys, Brandon, Tyler, and Reid.
