Jacksonville is the largest city in the state of Florida by population as well as being the largest city by region in the contiguous United States. Due to its vastness, Jacksonville has many different submarkets, each optimal for real estate. Jacksonville’s beach communities run along the adjacent Atlantic coast and are comprised of: Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach and Jacksonville Beach. Located within one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the country, beach residents enjoy all of the amenities and modern infrastructure of a large city while still enjoying the hospitality of a small hometown—great for new homes for sale in Jacksonville.
All three beaches offer a diversity of neighborhoods, each with a unique coastal Florida personality. The Atlantic, Neptune and Jacksonville Beaches are bordered by the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. The Atlantic and Neptune Beach communities are mainly residential with single-family homes and have public beach access with entertainment, shopping and dining along Atlantic Boulevard and A1A. Jacksonville Beach is further south and offers a mix of residential, commercial, retail and light industrial sites.
With miles of white sandy beaches and a mild, breezy climate, residents and visitors enjoy year-round golfing, boating, fishing and tennis as well as other outdoors sports. A variety of festivals in the area offer music, food and fun throughout the spring and summer. Although tourism is a major economic generator, there are no spring break crowds on Jacksonville beaches– only family-oriented tourism, which includes events like Friday night Moonlight Movies and the Summer Jazz Concert Series.
Centered on the banks of the St. Johns River, Jacksonville is in the “First Coast” region of Northern Florida. Harbor improvements since the late 19th century have made Jacksonville a major military and civilian deep-water port. Its riverfront location facilitates two Navy bases (N.A.S. Jax and Mayport) and the Port of Jacksonville, Florida’s third largest seaport.
