This week in our “Get to Know” series is our Assistant Superintendent Scott Sullivan. See what he says is his favorite memory working at MasterCraft Builder Group.
How long have you been in the home building industry?
11 years
What made you decide to choose new home building as a profession?
I chose new home building as my profession because I was introduced to it at a young age by helping my uncle with work. I found it fascinating and immediately felt that it was my calling.
What’s your favorite memory from working at MasterCraft Builder Group?
My favorite memory from working at MasterCraft is when we received an extensive thank you letter from the Kings at lot 86 in Villages of Valencia. Their gratitude and the way they presented it through the letter was very humbling and reminded me that our homeowners really appreciate what we do for them.
What would you say is the most important thing about selling new homes?
The most important thing about working in new home building is your reputation among both trade partners and customers. Next would be market research and offering the right product in the right area.
What do you enjoy in your free time?
In my free time I enjoy remodeling my cabin in the Ocala National Forest, fishing, hunting and spending time with family.
If you weren’t in new home sales what other profession would you be doing?
If I wasn’t in the new home building industry I would most likely be in medicine, possibly as a doctor.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in new home sales?
I would advise someone just starting out in new home sales and construction to find a way to separate yourself from the competition, both national and local home builders. Then, as mentioned above, I would advise to become reputable and make a name for yourself whether it be through community events, charities, etc. and by establishing good sub-contractor relations with companies that are also reputable. As they say, it’s not what you know but who you know.
